The Spice of Life

There are so many things I want to get off my chest and I know that when I start to feel this way, I need a release, so I look towards my passion to set me free.

Writing.

Writing is my purpose. It is the thing that makes me feel hopeful for the future and love for sharing my voice. The worst part about it though? Sometimes, I have zero interest in letting it all out.

The deeper I let my emotions sink, the harder it hurts when they rise to the surface again- and they always rise, whether I like it or not.
Whether we like it or not.

"Life is a rollercoaster." Now, how many times have you heard that in a song or a cliché book quote? (Add an extra number...I just said it too). That's because it really is. Life is a string of ups and downs that we all go through. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no ones life is as great as it looks on Instagram. No ones days are filled with as much happiness as their Facebook feed would lead you to believe. I know this because I see it.
I have always has an innate ability to be wise beyond my years. I don't mean that in a conceded way, quite the contrary actually. If I pin point the reason for this it definitely stems back to the lack of time in my childhood where I got to actually be a child, but I digress. My point is, I have known for a long time what it means to be enlightened. To reach the stage in understanding that shows you the meaning for life, how to make it better, and how to cut past all of the bullshit coping and explanation that society tries to tell us.

That's the thing,  it isn't necessarily something that can be told.

See, everyone has choices. We choose our passions, our drives, our desires, and our dreams. All of those things have an input in the perspective of who we are. We take those qualities and form labels for ourselves, and then use those labels to categorize our personas into where we "think" we belong. Next, we spend the rest of our time on Earth trying our hardest to fit those molds. We ignore the emotions, the stress, and the pain that comes from the natural rollercoaster of life. We push aside our issues because we believe there is no way that others could comprehend them, and constantly allow the fear of judgement and being wrong, to seal our tongues.

When we take a step back and examine the deeper nature of the world we find that there are 3 common principles that continue throughout religions and opposing civilizations: Love, Hope, and Kindness.
These are words many of us know. We put them on car stickers, hang them for decoration on walls, and promise ourselves that we follow their meanings. Yet, half of us don't even really know who we are. We haven't stepped outside of our own boxes to view the world as a bigger entity, and accepted our personal struggles as a factor of our makeup. Until you find that, those words will forever just be words.

There is a reason why most artists have led difficult lives or experienced devastation. Those experiences taught them this crucial lesson and brought them to a point where they could let go of those feelings by using art. A song. A movie. A play. A book. There are more art forms than that of course, but if I listed them all you would never finish this blog post. Their theme is simple. They connect others with the ability to bring people together through pain, happiness, heartache, and joy. To create the ebb and flow cycle of helping others, help others, and link together our differences which actually make us equal.

So, it all starts with you.
It all starts with making the effort to think for yourself, to break down the walls that cage you in and the categorized cells that keep your mind locked away from the real knowledge of life.

There are so many crutches that could offer a Band-Aid to the injustice and sadness that runs rampant through our existence. Still, none of them will ever make you feel whole. Not alcohol, not drugs, not money, or other people. The only tool that can do that, is YOU.

The key to freedom in life forever lies inside of your mind. You just have to be willing to open the door.
